- By Rulesman · Posted'A player is allowed to place his or her feet firmly in taking a stance, ..' That doesn't sound like all you did ' ..but is in breach of Rule 8.1a if he or she alters the ground where the stance will be taken ..' Well you certainly did that ' .. if altering the ground improves the area of intended stance.' If it didn't, why did you do it? Certainly seems to fit the bill for a breach What the pros may or may not do means nothing, witness tamping grass down behind ball, leaving ball as backstop
- By Inferno2ss · PostedNope we are in the US and both have Garmin GPS watches that track every shot and record the distance. He has always been a good athlete and pretty strong. He hits his 3 wood about 10 to 20 yards further than my driver and I avg 267. He started taking lessons at the end of last summer and is finally starting to hit his irons a bit better but he still goes through spurts of hitting it off the heal which sends it straight to the right, usually out of bounds or into the water ? I am the opposite, I struggle with my driver, but hit my irons better than most.
- By mvmac · PostedLetting my trail arm 'fly' has been a great thing for my game. What's important is that I don't try to 'place' the right arm higher, it's synced with my pivot. I'd film the swing first though to confirm it's actually tucked. Trail elbow might have nothing to do the distance lose. With the younger guys now, I'd say it's the opposite.

Today's Birthdays
The maximum shaft length allowed by the Rules of Golf for competition is 48 inches and common thinking suggests the longer the shaft, the more clubhead speed you can create. This is backed up. Driver length has to do with with your angle of attack, and your desired shaft weight/head weight combination.which is all about either swinging the club or finding a good fit- but never found according to height. Both angle of attack and shaft weight are the base parts of your swing and your desired objectives.
Standard Driver Shaft Length
The standard length of a steel driver for a man is 44 inches; a graphite driver is 44.5 inches; steel 3s, 4s and 5 woods are 42.5, 42 and 41.5 inches, respectively; graphite 3s, 4s and 5 woods are 43, 42.5 and 42 inches, respectively; both the 7 and 9 woods are 41 inches for steel and 41.5 inches for graphite; steel 11s and 13 woods are 40.5 and 40 inches, respectively; graphite 11s and 13 woods are 41.0 and 40.5 inches. There are two ways to fit for length – a static fit and a dynamic fit. Dynamic Length Fitting. A dynamic fit, one that is performed while the player swings the club, is more precise. The goal is to find the length that creates the best athletic set-up, the best motion, and that maximizes distance and accuracy. Well I chimed in a while back about using a shorter shaft on my driver. Said I'd report what I found out for MY GAME. I was told by everyone and even felt as if I was going to have to slip the repair shop guy a 20 just to get him to do it for me. He said it would never hit a ball and that I'd be back putting in a standard length shaft.
